Dr. Julie Sease Named PC Pharmacy School Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs
On November 15, 2013, Provost Don Raber announced that Dr. Julie Sease has been named Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs for the School of Pharmacy. Since January 2013, she had served as interim assistant dean and will assume the permanent appointment effective January 1, 2014.
“Dr. Sease has provided strong direction and support for our educational programs in Pharmacy. She has worked effectively with Dean Fuhrman and our faculty to build and enhance academic opportunities for our students, and I am happy that Julie will continue to serve on our leadership team for the Pharmacy School,” said Dr. Raber.
As assistant dean, she is responsible for academic affairs at the School of Pharmacy. She has coordinated all aspects of the instruction programs, including curriculum issues, assessment, and faculty development.
“Dr. Sease has been an asset to our pharmacy administrative team on an interim basis. I am pleased she has accepted this appointment,” said Dr. Cliff Fuhrman, PCSP dean.
“She has provided valuable insight to the continued development of our academic program and has a great rapport with our faculty and students,” Fuhrman said.
In 2009, Dr. Sease joined the PCSP faculty as an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, clinical pharmacist, and diabetes educator. She was named Director of Residency Education in 2012. In addition to her doctoral degree from the University of South Carolina,Sease holds licensure as a pharmacist by the South Carolina State Board of Pharmacy. She is a board certified ambulatory care pharmacist and pharmacotherapy specialist. She also is a certified diabetes educator. Earlier this year, she was honored with the school’s Exemplary Service to Admissions Faculty Award. Dr. Sease was selected as the School of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year for 2011-2012. Prior to her appointment at PC, Sease was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy.
She is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, American Association of Diabetes Educators, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, South Carolina Pharmacy Association, and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Locally, Sease is a member of the Good Shepherd Free Medical Clinic Board of Trustees.
