Residency Program, NIH- BRAD grant – May 2013

I began my career as a grant writer at Duke University Medical Center, and have served diverse institutions – a large medical research university, a seminary, and a private liberal arts college – for 25 years in senior executive and leadership roles.  Areas of experience include philanthropy and constituent relationship management; strategic planning; collaborative and partnership development; grants administration from pre through post- award; program budget development, analysis, and management; marketing and public relations; personnel assessment and administrative management; and academic and health care program development.

I oversee the grants function for both the Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy (PCSP) and Presbyterian College (PC), working with faculty and staff on all stages of extramural grant and funding support.

PCSP has a particular research and patient care focus on the management of chronic diseases in rural, indigent, and underserved populations. In addition to grants oversight, our team identifies and develops new opportunities for research, partnerships and collaborations, and funding support. One such example is our formal partnership with the South Carolina Free Clinic Association, focused on providing comprehensive medication therapy management services to the free medical clinics of South Carolina.

I work closely with students, faculty, and the dean on fundraising and service projects, and handle fundraising and future alumni relations for PCSP.

Fun Fact:

A former athlete (with the bad knees to prove it), I serve as the chair of the Athletic Department’s Gender-Equity Committee, a member of the Clinton YMCA Board, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and All Saints Episcopal Church.

Travel and theater are my passions – I hit the stage and the road every chance I get. Look closely and you also just might see me in a PCSP teaching video- I’ll be the patient!
