PCSP Welcomes Dr. Giuseppe Gumina

Dr. Giuseppe Gumina, Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, earned his M.S. degree in medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutics from University of Catania, Italy in 1994 before earning his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences (medicinal chemistry) from the same school in 1998.

Dr. Gumina was a visiting lecturer at Georgia Southern University in 2012-2013 and was an Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at South University School of Pharmacy from 2007-2011. From 2003 to 2007, Dr. Gumina served as Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in the College of Pharmacy at the Medical University of South Carolina/South Carolina College of Pharmacy.

A postdoctoral associate at University of Georgia from 1998 to 2003, Dr. Gumina teaches Principles of Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry and an MTM sequence. His research interests include nucleoside analogs as anticancer and antimicrobial, antiviral, and cardioprotective agents.
